Luke Tyrrell is an award-winning guitarist from Reading, England. Combining knowledge from all genres and varieties of guitar playing, and a special interest in Spanish and Latin guitar music, Luke strives to deliver unique and diverse performances, as well as rich and engaging classes to his students. Luke has performed at many prestigious venues and events around the United Kingdom, including at Charter house, The Royal Greenwich Guitar Festival, and the Old Royal Navel Chapel. Above all, in 2021 Luke was honoured to win the Allison Stephens prize for plucked strings.

Offering a practical approach to teaching born from his many hours of experience, as well as studying works by contemporary thinkers on the subject, Luke has great experience teaching players of all ages and abilities. Central to his teaching methodology is the idea that each student and their needs is unique, promoting divergence whilst also supporting traditional technical approaches.

Currently living in London, and having received first-class honours in his undergraduate degree, he recently embarked on a project to record Isaias Savio’s ‘Cenas Brasilieras’, something which has not been done in its entirety in over 50 years. Luke is now studying for his Master’s at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the tutorage of Graham Devine.
